Domaine Laroche L'Obédiencerie

Domaine
Laroche

The philosophy of Domaine Laroche is that great wines are made in the vineyard and that the role of the winemaker should be discrete and light-handed.

In contrast to their modern winery, Laroche’s offices are based in one of Chablis’ oldest buildings, L’Obédiencerie, with its 9th century cellars and crypt, which gives its name to their flagship cuvee: La Réserve de l’Obédience, from their best Blanchots wines.

The Laroche vineyard is trained organically.
Tilling and cover crops are used to maintain healthy, aerated soils and a common sense approach to viticulture ensures that grapes can be harvested at optimum ripeness.

Grapes are pressed with great care, as the team believes that precision at this stage dictates the potential quality of each parcel during the fermentation and ageing. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels (30%), a quarter of which is new oak. Wines will be aged on fine lees for 10-15 months.
